Central Peninsula Hospital (CPH) is a 50-bed, acute care, community owned, non-profit hospital located in Soldotna, Alaska. CPH is a Planetree affiliated hospital with an approach to wellness that includes all aspects of healing - mental, emotional, spiritual, social and physical. Our on-site, air ambulance service provides timely, emergency medical care for the entire region.
An 85,000 sq. ft., state-of-the-art expansion and renovation project has added and improved facilities for private patient rooms, surgery, labor and delivery, emergency care, outpatient services, imaging, laboratory, and physical therapy. Our active medical staff has more than 85 physicians and 28 allied health providers with specialties including Anesthesia, Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, ENT, General Surgery, Internal Medicine, Neurology, OB/GYN, Ophthalmology, Orthopedics, Pathology, Pediatrics, Podiatry, Psychiatry and Radiology.

About the Location:
The City of Soldotna sits approximately 10 miles inland from the shores of Cook Inlet. The Kenai River runs through the City on its way to empty into Cook Inlet. Voted the #1 Fishing Hotspot in North America by Field & Stream Magazine in 2004, the Kenai River offers you world class King Salmon (Chinook), Red Salmon (Sockeye), Silver Salmon (Coho) and Pink Salmon (Humpbacks) fishing, not to mention some of the world’s finest trout fishing. Soldotna, Alaska has more river city parks than anywhere else in Alaska, and we are proud to offer 3,700 ft. of elevated fishing boardwalk along the Kenai River and over 220 campsites for visitors to enjoy.
To the east of the City lies the community of Sterling and the Kenai mountains. To the south are the communities of Kasilof, Clam Gulch, Ninilchik, and Anchor Point and the City of Homer. To the west lies the City of Kenai and to the northwest, the community of Nikiski. In addition, migratory birds and other waterfowl make the river and its surrounding wetlands their home. Soldotna is home to many other types of wildlife, including moose, bears, caribou, and birds.
About the Department:
The Information Services department at CPH currently consists of 16 employees, and is composed of three individual focus areas: Technical Services, Application Services, and eHealth Services. The managers of each focus area report to the IS Director, who reports to the CFO.

CPH is a MEDITECH Magic 5.64 site (soon to be PP6,) and utilizes almost the entire suite of available Magic applications. In addition, we support many other vendor applications, including Medseek, Pyxis, DR Systems PACS, Logicare, Iatric Systems, Spacelabs, Kronos, ePremis, and 3M.
MEDITECH implementations in the coming year include PCM, CCD Exchange, & PDI. Scheduled other vendor implementations include OBIX, GE Centricity Perioperative Anesthesia, and DrFirst. In addition, we will begin exploring future conversion options for our HCIS solution.
The CPH IS department takes pride in the quality of services we provide to our customers. We work diligently to advance our staff and physicians effective use of Information Technology to aid in improved safety and quality care for our patients. This ongoing commitment is evident in the recognition CPH has received from H&HN's "Healthcare's Most Wired" Survey the past three years running.
Position Profile:
The primary function of our open position is to provide systems project management, software support, maintenance, troubleshooting, and training for the MEDITECH HCIS and other CPH supported applications. In this role, you will participate in the selection, development, implementation, testing, and documentation of software applications to effectively support the clinical and business information system needs.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in information systems or healthcare related field is preferred (relevant experience may substitute.) CPHIMS, CPHIT, CAPM, or PMP certification is also required (may be obtained within 12 months of hire.) Previous experience working in a hospital Information Services environment with a MEDITECH HCIS is required. DR Systems PACS support experience and IT project management formal training and/or experience is highly desired. SQL, HL7, and EDI skills are expected.
